Album Notes

Quarantined Beats (and Inside Voices) is a time capsule. The entire album was written and recorded in May 2020, one of the weirdest and most historic months many of us will ever experience. All the beats were produced by Doctor Popular, with additional vocals by many of his friends from around the world.

I started sending beats out on May 1st. On the evening of May 24th we had all (but one) of the songs finished and getting mixed. On May 25th 2020, George Floyd was murdered by a Minneapolis police officer. It wasn’t my goal to avoid the topics of police brutality or the protests that followed. It feels like everything changed since George Floyd’s murder and at first I felt weird releasing a collection of songs about how hard it was to find toilet paper, but I think this album still serves as a time capsule of a very specific time in our lives.

This album is free. If you enjoy it, PLEASE share it with friends and on social networks. I want to say thanks to all of the amazing artists who wrote and recorded songs for this project. Everybody brought their A game. Thanks so much for working with me. I owe each and everyone of you so much.

On a final note, I believe that Black Lives Matter. Regardless of your age, race, and gender, I hope that you do too. Black Americans are more than twice as likely to die in any interaction with police than someone like myself is. This system needs to dramatic change. If you think these 20 songs have brought you joy, please donate $20 to www.aclu.org/action/

Thanks for listening, now tell your friends!
